Formula
daily feed = body weight × intake % × (1 + wastage)
Worked example
Using the values pre-filled in the calculator above:
- Number of animals = 50
- Average body weight = 450 kg
- Stock type: Beef cattle (2.5% of body weight)
- Days = 180
- Feed wastage = 8 %
- Feed price per tonne = 260
the calculator returns:
- Daily feed per animal: 12.15 kg
- Daily total: 607.5 kg
- Total for the period: 109.35 tonnes
