Formula
Nest egg = (income − other income) ÷ withdrawal rate
Worked example
Using the values pre-filled in the calculator above:
- Desired annual income = 60,000
- Other income (pension etc.) = 15,000
- Withdrawal rate = 4 %
- Years until retirement = 25
- Already saved = 100,000
- Return while saving = 7 %
