About the Takt Time Calculator
Takt time — the pace of production needed to meet customer demand — compared with your actual cycle time.
Also known as: takt time formula, customer demand rate, lean takt.
How to use this calculator
- Enter available production time (minutes/day), customer demand (units/day), actual cycle time (min, optional).
- The result updates instantly as you type — press Calculate (or Enter) at any time.
- Review the breakdown shown under the main result.
- Use Copy result or Share to save the answer or send a link with your inputs.
Formula
Takt = available time ÷ customer demand
Worked example
Using the values pre-filled in the calculator above:
- Available production time (minutes/day) = 450
- Customer demand (units/day) = 300
- Actual cycle time (min, optional) = 1.6
the calculator returns:
- Takt time: 1.5 min/unit
- Seconds: 90
- Status: Too slow — cycle time exceeds takt
- Capacity utilisation vs takt: 106.67%
