Formula
free space = room area − walkway allowance − furniture footprint
Worked example
Using the values pre-filled in the calculator above:
- Room length = 4.5 m
- Room width = 3.6 m
- Sofa footprint = 2.1 m²
- Table footprint = 1.6 m²
- Storage footprint = 1.2 m²
- Other furniture = 0.8 m²
- Walkway allowance = 30 %
