Formula
saving = (old − new L/100km) ÷ 100 × distance × price
Worked example
Using the values pre-filled in the calculator above:
- Current consumption = 9 L/100km
- New consumption = 6 L/100km
- Annual distance = 15,000 km
- Fuel price per litre = 1.65
- Years of ownership = 5
- Annual fuel price rise = 3 %
